Rye Boys Hoops Roll to Regional Final

Rye’s boys basketball team beat Goshen Central 62-47 on Tuesday in a sub-regional playoff game that was never close.

The Garnets (20-5) have now won five straight playoff games, and 11 of their past 12 games overall, entering the regional final. They’re one of eight teams remaining with a shot at New York’s Class AA state title.

After eliminating the Section 9 champions Tuesday in Yorktown, Rye will return to the same gym Friday, for a 7 p.m. game against Section 8 champion South Side (18-3) or Section 11 champion Smithtown West (21-1).

With another win Friday, Rye will move on to the state semifinals, played March 20-21 in Binghamton.
