For the second year in a row, Rye’s girls and boys basketball teams will both play in the Section 1 Class AA semifinals Monday at Westchester County Center.
The No. 3 Garnet girls (18-4) beat No. 6 Suffern, 60-42, Wednesday at home. Rye trailed 26-25 at halftime before starting the third quarter on a 14-2 run.
An hour later, the No. 5 Garnet boys (17-5) knocked off No. 4 Horace Greeley, 59-55, avenging a loss from the third game of the season.

The Rye girls, who won the section title last year and started this season 17-0 against Class AA competition, will play the winner of Ossining and Lakeland on Monday. Ossining, the No. 2 seed, was the only Class AA opponent to beat Rye this year, handing the Garnets back-to-back losses to conclude the regular season.
Rye’s boys will take on Suffern, which won 12 of its past 13 games to earn the tournament’s No. 1 seed. The Mounties won their only meeting against the Garnets, 52-31, on Jan. 16.
