Breaking: Rye Hockey to Play for Section Title
Garnets win 8-2, will face Byram Hills in championship Sunday.
Rye Hockey to Play for 16th Section Title

The top-seeded Rye hockey team beat Pawling 8-2 Friday in Playland to return to the Section 1 championship.
The Garnets (16-2-3), who have now won seven straight games, will face Byram Hills (12-5-1), winners of six straight, at 1 p.m. Sunday in Brewster Ice Arena.
Sophomore Max Niejadlik and junior Jack McGill each scored twice Friday for Rye. Colin Nigro, Jake Souza, Jamie Morris, and Kai Brittain all netted goals in a dominant win over the Tigers.

Byram Hills, the tournament’s No. 3 seed, knocked off second-seeded Pelham, 7-4, on the road in Friday’s other semifinal.
Sunday’s meeting will be the first this season between the Garnets and Bobcats, with the winner advancing to the quarterfinal round of the Division 2 New York state hockey bracket.
