Rye Wins Big to Reach State Football Semifinals

Rye breezed past Minisink Valley on Friday to enter the Class A state semifinals with ease.

The Garnets (12-0) picked up where they left off a week after winning the section title, scoring the game’s first six touchdowns in a 42-14 rout of the previously unbeaten Warriors (10-1) in Arlington.

Rye’s state semifinal game will kick off at 6 p.m. Nov. 28 in Middletown. The opponent will either be Section 2 champion Niskayuna or Section 9 at-large team Cornwall Central, which lost to Minisink Valley a week ago.

The Garnets, winners of four Class B state titles, are two wins away from claiming their first Class A crown.
