Exclusive: Nathan Announces Mayoral Run

Democrat Josh Nathan Announces Mayoral Run

Councilman Josh Nathan, a Democrat, has decided to run for mayor this November. Nathan, a former city Board of Education president, has spent two terms on the City Council.

Democratic City Councilman Josh Nathan is officially running for mayor.

Nathan, 59, who has been on the council since his special election in 2021, said he’s excited about the November ballot.

“This has been a ticket that has been in the making,” he said about the Democratic slate, which has yet to be announced. “I think Rye will be very well served.”

A primary isn’t expected as incumbent Mayor Josh Cohn, who is no longer affiliated with the local Democratic Party, has told sources that he won’t seek reelection.

The Rye Republicans have not yet announced their candidate for mayor, although it’s widely speculated that Nathan will face off against fellow Councilman Bill Henderson.
